The Holy Door of St. John Lateran
Crafted by Italian sculptor Floriano Bodini, the Holy Door of St. John Lateran was erected in the Jubilee Year 2000. The sculpture represents the Virgin with Child stretching out towards the cross. The inscription, Christus heri hodie semper translates to "Christ yesterday, today, always."
[Reword, elaborate] Cast in bronze, the model of the Virgin represents the prayer and desire of all believers to find consolation in Christ (question: why does Mary have the hand of benediction? is she blessing?). The Christ Child is a reference to all of humanity and shows us the path to heaven. (Not a lot of information yet).
